Q. How can you tell (when you’re interviewing) if you’re going to be able to be yourself at a job?

A. Watch the other people. Notice their interactions. It’s common to be so nervous going into a job interview that you totally focus on your own “performance.”

That’s not healthy for you. Look around and see the work area & the people in it. Are people relaxed? Are they happy? Feel the positive or negative vibe around you, because there is one. We are tuning ourselves to catch these critical frequencies

Is the interview scripted and formal? Is it friendly and relaxed? How do they respond to questions about the culture and working conditions? Keep your Spidey sense on and after the interview, give yourself time to download all those impressions

It may take a few days. Your gut needs time to work through everything you took in at the interview, including vital clues your conscious brain may have missed

Talk through the interview leaving out no detail, including how you arrived, what you were wearing, what they were wearing, how they greeted you, whether they gave you coffee, and everything else you can remember. Tell the story to a friend who can help you evaluate the culture
