This made me realize how "extremism" has been propagandized.

To us, China is the extremist, not the Uyghur Muslims. China meanwhile is simply "removing extremist elements."

It's not about extremism.

It's just pure evil, driven by a mad desire for power.

Extremism assumes you're starting with a valid baseline.

What it usually means is deviant. It's not something valid taken to an illogical end. It was invalid to begin with.

Repression, beating people's identity out of them, is both as old as history and inherently deviant.
Of course, extremism being an inherently relative term, it provides an excellent way for deviant powers to repress: arbitrarily define a baseline and then call everyone who doesn't meet it "extreme."

Watch the framing.
Watch the terminology.

And call it out.
