The biggest challenges I get to stronger dollar theme revolve around the huge amount of debt & unfunded liabilties we have. This is a valid point. I agree we will never be able to pay off. So its devalue or default. History shows devalue is typical method employed. So lower $.
But this is the endgame. Not the path. The issue is that all other fiat currencies are in the same mess. So much so that they are still doing QE and have moved rates to NEGATIVE during the time that US stopped cuts, stopped QE and raised rates 9 times.
Now, bc US may cut rates (despite ROW never having stopped) the $ is suddenly going to go to zero? It’s extremely narrow analysis. What about European & Japanese unfunded pensions? What about china’s demographic nightmare? What about Canada’s provincial debt levels?
The US dollar is a HORRIBLE currency. HORRIBLE! But what fiat currency isn’t? And before you say RUBLE (!) I’ll grant you that. But what are chances that the world moves to the Ruble over the dollar? And if you think they are high why don’t you already own a vault of rubles?
The fact is Fiat currency is a relative game. One of them MUST go up verses the others. That’s just the way it is. If you cannot accept that simple fact then please quit reading right now.
Next you will say gold. YES..BY ALL MEANS OWN GOLD. That is the insurance policy again the absolutely guaranteed failure of fiat currencies (whether next year or 50 years from now i don’t know...but they will fail).
But in meantime (whether in next yr or next 50 yrs...etc) there is an INCREDIBLE opportunity to play fiat currencies against each other. Not only is there incredible opportunity, but the game is rigged! & if you step back & forget about your insurance for a sec you will see it
Think of it like the Titanic. Except this time, before you even get on board, you know the ship is going down. A couple of the other passengers know its going down as well. But the vast majority have no idea. This gives you a leg up on almost everyone.
During the trip, while most passengers are going about their lives, there is a high stakes game going on in one of the ballrooms. The gamblers are all as cut throat as they come. But one of them is bigger, fatter, meaner and uglier than all the others. And one of them MUST win
Not only does ugly guy supply the currency that everyone is required to use in the game, but he rigged the game so that only he wins. Not only that, he has his thugs blocking exits & outside other players rooms to relieve them of their winnings should they somehow do so.
Now...you KNOW he has rigged the game. And you KNOW his thugs are going to keep the others from keeping their money. the key there here is that you are also allowed to bet on which of these egomaniacal high stakes gamblers are going win. So you can bet on the rigged outcome.
Now I know what you are thinking...screw that. This ship is going down. I’m getting one of the lifeboats and getting out of here right now.
Ok, your survival instincts are very good. Here’s the problem. You’re one of the very few who knows the ship is going down.
So when you take your money & buy the lifeboat, that is a VERY smart move. But leaving the ship right now is NOT. Why? Bc you will be all by yourself in a lifeboat in the middle of the North Atlantic with no one else to talk to. And a couple thousand miles to row to shore.
Even if you somehow make it to shore, you will be poor when you get there bc people onshore don’t need lifeboats. So by all means buy the lifeboat, you will definitely need it! Just don’t jump ship yet. (BTW, if you have not yet figured out that gold is the lifeboat...well...)
Now that you have a lifeboat secured and in your possession, then you go back the ball room, take some of the money you have left and you bet on the rigged outcome of the high stakes game.
This allows you to get closer to shore, make a killing while you are still dry and warm, and still use your lifeboat for security reasons when the time comes.
This way when you make it to land, you may not be the king of the world, but you will have made it through the madness and have some capital in your pocket to go ahead with your life.
