#5 - Algorand
Somehow, we were able to avoid it being all Libra all the time! In fact, we started with Algorand, whose auction success caused many heads to turn. Feat. @Melt_Dem
Despite an absolutely Orwellian name and aggressive comments from the US Treasury Secretary, good folks like @coincenter @jchervinsky suggest the new info is consistent with what we'd prev seen and that the global exchange data sharing sky is not, in fact, falling.
Okay we couldn't avoid it forever. The big story last week was obviously the launch of Libra. Also looked at @ErikVoorhees epic thread as a good representative of the mid-line "some good, some bad, but positive in terms of exposing people to new types of money"
Didn't take long for Libra to get caught up in the anti-tech narrative, and even saw recognition that crypto is a thread to money printing. As @GarrickHileman points out tho, Bank of England took a diff stance
Finally, we focused on what I think will be the most important convo in the coming months: Libra & privacy. Featuring content from @udiWertheimer & an important reminder of the stakes from @SarahJamieLewis
