This Wayfair story reveals some of the treacherous waters brands have to navigate with respect to the hateful policies of the Trump administration. +
On the one hand, a big complaint has been that people are being made to sleep on concrete floors, and yet the company from which beds has been ordered—presumably by someone attempting to rectify that situation—is now facing backlash.
It just goes to show you how toxic the Trump name is for brands. How big the risk of going anywhere near its activities. Hate is bad for business.
Reminder: the companies that have won multi-million dollar contracts for building and running these detention facilities are listed in the "other companies on our radar" section of the #GrabYourWallet website with email & phone contact info: grabyourwallet.org/Other%20Compan…
Shout out to Wayfair employees taking a stand on behalf of detained migrants tomorrow! I like that you're suggesting management donate profits to immigrant rights orgs. That shows you're being sensitive to the physical needs of the detained & their human rights. #WayfairWalkout
It's worth noting that the CEO of @Wayfair, Niraj Shah, has a net worth of 2.4 billion dollars (according to Forbes), so pretty sure he could afford to take the hit on that $200k furniture purchase and a fair number of other orders detention facilities place. #wayfairwalkout
It's also worth noting that @Wayfair's subsidiaries are @jossandmain, @allmodern, @BirchLane, and @Perigold. We'll make a note of this on the website as well.
