(1) Six months ago, students during MLK Day start developing a project to tackle the Uighur concentration camps. After months of development, we officially announcing Woolworth 21, a project with three points to address this crisis: 1: Engage youth in leadership, human rights,
(2) and activism education with emphasis placed on utilizing the knowledge to tackle the Uighur crisis, 2: Teach young people to incorporate this knowledge into creating media to tackle social injustice like the Uighur Crisis and also analyze how media can catalyze social
(3) change and discussion, 3: A comprehensive public awareness campaign against denialism and eliminationism, coupled with education on activism to combat this. Point 3 is extremely important because whenever our youth leaders try to educate people, the denialists will try to
(4) undermined the education. It like building a well and there people throwing arsenic into the well. After studying genocides that happened throughout history, we realized that denial was a reoccurring element throughout the very history of genocide. It extremely difficult
(5) to do this kind of work, only to see people involved in the human rights and China Watchers communities engage with denialists. We had recorded several instances, including the head of Human Rights Watch, promoting a incredibly vile and reprehensible denialist Carl Zha,
(6) who is regarded by the Uighur diaspora as one of leaders in assisting in their prosecution through a massive denialist campaign. With about 20k followers, it is imperative that the curriculum focusing on the history and analysis of denialism will look at the leading figures
(7) in the modern denialist movement. What we need right now is for people to start listening to young activists in the font line, we put our necks out because the older generation don't want to do anything. First thing: Human Rights Watch need to develop a social media policy
@KenRoth @SophieHRW (8) that prohibit promoting denialism and there need to be a apology to the Uighur community that this happen in the first place. Even as I post this up, people are thanking me for exposing this. This is tough love right now to the human rights community. The work we do is
@KenRoth @SophieHRW (9) based off your work, but I saw was unacceptable. We will also engage in a investigation of how pervasive denialist influences are and releasing the information to the public. We also want Uighurs to be at the front and center of this discussion. We are organizing community
@KenRoth @SophieHRW (10) discussion group specifically to talk about the denial element. If you are a Uighur or a scholar, we can try to see if we can Skype you into the discussion. If I had to fly out with the high school volunteers to California to talk to the tech companies with the research we
@KenRoth @SophieHRW (11) found, so be it, this going to be done. There is a lot to discussed beside this, but I want to end with a note that Woolworth 21 is named after the Woolworth's sit-ins that happened in Greensboro. Just as the Whoolworth's sit-in spread from Greensboro to other cities, so
@KenRoth @SophieHRW (12) too must the principles of Whoolworth 21 spread to other areas of the countries. Virginia with it large Uighur population, is a priority when it come to spreading the three points. I am offering free training and consultation for community human rights education. Also the
@KenRoth @SophieHRW (13) full interview is over here if anyone want to watch it. There a lot more I could have posted, but I holding back till next month. This definitely took the whole night to composed.
