It's time for another CROSSNIQ+ #y2kwednesday!

We're partnering with @y2k_aesthetic, the #1 spot in cyberspace for vintage y2k design, to take a look at some y2k design that inspired the look of CROSSNIQ+.

This week, the focus is Y2K MOTION GRAPHICS/CG! It's GIF time!
The commercials, video logos, and music videos of the y2k era lavishly put y2k design principles into motion!

Since new tech was central to y2k, CG sets with live actors were popular, such as in this Sisqo Pepsi commercial.

Note the fashion and the blue/gray color palette!
CG blobjects were also popular, giving some motion to these iconic elements of y2k product design.

This bumper from MTV Izbia '99 showcases both then and a beautiful CG logo.
But sets and effects weren't the limit - CG was finally at a point where it could portray humanoid characters, and designers were ready to show it off.

This clip from MTV's "The Lili Show" introduces a small "virtual VJ" show host, a popular y2k concept.
"Digital" colors like teal and white ruled the era. Hollow text and ripples embodied the new, exotic, ephemeral omnipresence of digital communication - even in something not terribly related to tech, like this Toyota Echo commercial!

(note the giant satellite dish!)
This bumper for MTV MegaDose showcases another popular approach to color palette, using "thermal", saturated tones to make graphics pop.

Rapidly cycling images, bombarding viewers with visual info, was a popular effect. This example is complete with pseudo-anime graphics!
Fake UI elements, to imply a futuristic interface, were also a common mograph trope. This set of "Agent X" bumps actually feature graphics by The Designers Republic!
Another, more extreme example of UI window dressing is this ad for Pepsi Blue. Instead of mundane, the visual language of computer interfaces was exciting and pioneering!
CROSSNIQ+ draws upon all of these tropes and techniques, in both gameplay and promo material!

Colors? Font elements? Blasting your eyes with graphics? All here!
The use of CG backgrounds in-game was heavily inspired by some of the CG you saw in this very thread!
And of course, the UIs of the game speak for themselves!

Do you have any favorite y2k commercials, bumps, or other motion graphics? Tweet them in the replies!
And, if you're just arriving or haven't told your friends, don't forget to check out the trailer for CROSSNIQ+ and give us a follow!
