1/This is a pivotal moment in our democracy. In 2016, Trump ‘won’ the election by suspiciously close margins in just 3 swing states. Instead of contesting those results, the stunned Democratic leadership simply conceded. WE MUST NOT LET THAT HAPPEN AGAIN👇
But, instead of laying the groundwork to demand recounts and forensic audits, the Dems are ignoring this threat again-a threat made worse by a criminal president hiding behind his office to avoid indictment and a corrupt, complicit GOP Congress determined to keep him there.
3/The evidence is overwhelming.The GOP refuses to check an unfit, criminal president who says he would accept foreign help in the next election. They block all bills to safeguard the ballot and, worse, they have a long history of outright election theft👇
4/So why are the Dems ignoring the biggest threat we face? Why aren’t the Dems laying the groundwork to contest suspicious tallies in 2020? Are the Dems afraid that addressing this threat head-on will call the integrity of our elections into question and suppress voter turnout?
5/No. Not if the Dems warn us about the threat and give us the tools we need to counter it. Not if they educate us about how turnout and exit polling are key to triggering forensic audits and recounts. . . NOT IF THE DEMS PREPARE US TO FIGHT BACK THIS TIME INSTEAD OF CONCEDING!!
6/And if there are suspicious results like we saw in those 3 swing states that threw the 2016 election to Trump - all states should have systems in place to conduct recounts and forensic audits-currently only 3 do-Colorado, New Mexico, and Rhode Island. 👇
7/In 2004 GOP helped swing the election to Bush by tampering w/vote tallies in Ohio - although the Dems suspected fraud/theft - Kerry simply conceded 👇
