Ruga is a project that is geared towards ending the herdsmen/farmers crisis. It is a means of stopping open grazing. It Ruga settlements will be set up only in states that agree to voluntarily provide land for it. So far 12 states, all in the North, have volunteered land.
We asked for a lasting solution to the age long crisis between herdsmen and farmers, somebody has shown the political will to give it a try. Ruga will keep herdsmen within locations were they can rear their livestock, get professional agric service and send their kids toi school
You don't want to see cows roaming our streets anymore, this Ruga initiative is geared towards that. You have always asked for cows to be kept in a place. That is what Ruga is for.
No state in the South has agreed to Ruga settlements. So if you are from a southern state and are hysterical about Ruga, I want to assume you are doing it on behalf of people who have not requested your service.
We will continue to share this information so that anarchists among us will not hijack the narrative.
Ruga is not a land grab. Constitutionally governors have the power to assign land in their state. The governors of the 12 states of Sokoto, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kogi, Taraba, Katsina, Plateau, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Niger have used their constitutional powers to do this.
If your state is not one of these, you have nothing to fear. So long as your governor does not assign land, Ruga settlements will not be set up in your state.
