At @notarize I’m constantly reminded how fortunate I am to live in America. Where else can a small team create a better way that challenges billion dollar incumbents, yet prevail & transform laws across the country to provide every American better service? 1/14
It’s a testament to the American spirit, even companies threatened by the march of technology accept its inevitability. To innovate is American. 2/14
It’s a testament to our system of government where an idea’s merit can win over an incumbent’s relationships - but also where it’s difficult enough to ensure new laws are well considered. 3/14
It’s a testament to our business norms and a system of capital allocation that supports a company to grow as quickly as we have. 4/14
ot just VC. The Enterprise has bet on us sooner than anyone should reasonably expect. Even the most conservative institutions will bet on small companies to co-create the future. 5/14
One theory of American history is that property rights were about equality. Another is that ownership would root people’s interests in the success of the collective. Who would tear down the system if it meant losing one’s own equity? 6/14
I believe both. And at its core, the title industry transfers, records, and insures ownership. They secure our stake in society. And the closing is the consummating act. 7/14
It’s claimed the modern mortgage is a wealth creator in America. Presuming sound decisions, I agree. Equity fundamentally changes someone’s finances, provides security, and makes someone invested in the long term success of their community. 8/14
Some places are “race to file” & you can be beaten. One of the largest sources of fraud is actually misappropriation of funds by title agents. Digital closings can eliminate rate locks and save average borrowers $30k life of loan. R/E wire fraud jumped 2,000% since ’15. 9/14
At @Notarize, we believe it’s our duty to improve these core functions in our society, making it faster, less costly, and more secure to establish ownership and create equity. The same holds true for creating your will, transferring assets, etc. 10/14
Finally, @notarize is 60% female and 50% of our managers are women. And we have countless military families across the company. We are a testament that anyone and everyone can enter the digital economy and thrive in the future that we strive to create. 11/14
Meet Jacqueline. Mother of 9. Military wife. Started week 1 as a notary, now leads training & compliance, liaison to the eng. team, doubles as remote IT for our signers, moral compass as we serve people’s most intimate and stressful moments. We’d be nowhere without her. 12/14
Should @notarize succeed, I want our legacy to be two things. Digitizing the notary proved to be the wedge to transform industries. And, becoming a digital notary proved to be a wedge for people to enter the future economy. 13/14
We’re a notary company. And our mission at @notarize is to improve the American experience. Happy 4th everyone! Lucky to be here. /end
