NEW: Leaked footage shows Pro-Corbyn NEC member Darren Williams saying Labour’s Brexit policy has “damaged” its electoral standing and the party should now discuss whether to revoke article 50 if it wins the next election. He blames the media for “playing up” divisions. 1/
MORE: Mr Williams says @HackneyAbbott and @johnmcdonnellMP have been pushing @jeremycorbyn to adopt a more explicit Brexit position. He says there needs to be a discussion about whether a Labour govt should negotiate a new deal or “just revoke a50 and have none of it” 2/
MORE: The NEC member also says that a “slightly more overtly kind of pro-remain position chimes with the views of most of our members and I think with most of our core voter base” and that was reflected in the european election results 3/
Mr Williams was speaking in a video meeting yesterday. Another sign of the increasing unease even among Corbyn loyalists over the position of the Labour leadership on Brexit.

NEW: Speaking to Sky today, Darren Williams says Labour’s Brexit policy “hasn’t caused problems... it’s how it’s been perceived”. He says he has continually supported Labour’s Brexit policy which is “more nuanced and balanced” than other “crude and simplistic” policies.
Mr Williams says he stands by his comments in the meeting yesterday but is “not impressed” that they have been leaked as the session was off the record. He says the “situation is developing” and that is why he made comments about Labour moving to a more pro-remain position.
On the video, a Labour Party spokesperson said:

"Jeremy Corbyn has set out our position that any Brexit deal agreed by Parliament should be put to a public vote. As leader, he is working to unite the party and wider labour movement around a common agreed position".
