Some thoughts on children in the office... 1 - we are a start up, so we can sort of do what we like 2 - we are designing the policy as we go, every child in the office is an opportunity to learn what works and what doesn’t 3 - this is not a female issue, it’s a parent/carer one.
- it definitely doesn’t scale in its current guise, but we don’t build for 500 people today, like our app, we work incrementally and improve out childcare policy as we go.
- This is a lovey dovey situation for sure but ultimately it’s a #Productivity one. The money we lose as parents have to work from home during summer holidays is nuts to me 🤷🏾‍♀️ if anyone knows lost GDP due to lack of childcare I’d be fascinated to know 💰💰💰
- Also, peace of mind. When you’re a new parent you freak out about leaving them with random strangers. Lost concentration is lost productivity is lost money!
- Ultimately, the school/work system was designed for men to go work in the factory and women to raise the family. 9am-3pm school never matched 9-5pm work. And today’s labour force doesn’t even work 9-5pm! I’m sure there was a government slogan “let’s make work, work”???
