The expansion of #ExpeditedRemoval is a game changer.

Deportation without a hearing has been part of the law for a long time, but now, it essentially turns the entire United States into a border.

First: expedited removal, or ER, applied to noncitizens caught within 100 miles of the border who couldn't prove they'd been in the US for 2 weeks.

Under expanded ER, it's the whole US, and for anyone who can't prove they've been here for 2 *years*.

If you're in ER, the ONLY way out is to claim asylum and be scheduled for a "credible fear interview," or CFI. Even those have become harder of late. Otherwise, *you just get deported.*

Add to that the family separation, and you can see: THIS IS A NIGHTMARE SCENARIO.

I'd advise everyone to do the same. Noncitizens are actually already required to carry their proof of status with them (see INA 264(e)). THAT INCLUDES GREEN CARD HOLDERS.

Make copies, save them in the cloud and with an attorney or trusted friend.

If you're undocumented and have been here for more than 2 years, start collecting evidence. Bills, paychecks, tax returns, lease agreements, dated pictures. Carry the file with you; safeguard with a lawyer and a friend.

The anti-immigrant movement, rooted in white nationalism, has been pushing for this for a LONG time. This didn't start today.

CIS (not to be confused with USCIS, the federal immigration agency now headed by *another* white nationalist, Ken Cuccinelli) started as an offshoot of FAIR, the Federation for American Immigration Reform, itself founded in 1979 by Dr. John Tanton.

Tanton died last Tuesday, but his racist thought lives on in the Trump administration.

His central role in creating these nightmares cannot be overstated; that's why I sued to unseal his papers, closed by agreement until April 2035.

Folks - the groups advising the President *have had these policies locked and loaded for years.*

Understand: We have yet another fire, another wave of terror in immigrant communities, of a rogue agency picking up people willy nilly.

This is a white nationalist's dream.

So, to recap:

1. Carry your papers (if you have them)
2. Carry proof of residence >2 years (if undocumented)
3. Consult with a lawyer to determine ways to stay.
4. Don't open the door if ICE comes to your house.

We deserve to know what plans he had he didn't want us to know until 2035.
