Covering a hearing this afternoon entitled "When Science Gets Trumped: Scientific Integrity at the Interior."
At the opening, Republican Rep. Rob Bishop tells Dems the hearing title is "cute" and says its not fair because...
...if there were more puns for Obama's name, they could have done it w/hearings during his time.

This contention is false.
I don't think I need to provide you the list of nicknames the former president was slapped with. You can literally google it and an exhaustive list is available at your fingertips.
Here's what's not so cute.
According to Andrew Rosenberg, director of the Center for Science and Democracy at the Union for Concerned Scientists, he's received reports from scientists working in govt who have said:
"We are no longer authorized to share scientific findings with public if they center on climate change, they are marked internal use only.”

And:
"Consistent removal of references to climate change have hindered our ability to study potential threats of climate change to national park system”
Is this cute?

Joel Clement, senior fellow of the Arctic Initiative, recounted his experience to Congress. He worked with interagency teams at the Interior to address climate change and the impact on 30 Alaskan native tribes.
The interior has acknowledged the tribes will be "acutely threatened" by climate change. Clement spoke publicly about the department's failure to take action addressing the group, including at the UN. The night after his speech, he was moved to another department.
He was sent to an agency office responsible for auditing and processing checks rec'd from the oil and gas industry.
He has no experience in accounting or auditing. At all.
"It was clearly retaliation," Clement said.
I'll have more on this and other scientists who say they were censored or retaliated against by the Trump admin.
A trend at the Interior Department under President Donald Trump has persisted for 2 years: climate science is being squeezed out and retaliation can be swift for those who speak up.
