Bernie Sanders, a front runner in the 2020 race, got a standing ovation at the NAACP event on Wed. I think that warrants some coverage. But he doesn't get a mention here.

I believe he was also the only candidate asked abt Reparations -- a sign that reporters care less about elucidating the candidates' stances on an important issue than exploiting it as political tool.

Bernie's answer was amazing FWIW, but folks aren't interested in covering that.
Bernie Sanders has consistently come in second behind Biden as the the most favorable candidate for Black Americans. He has more non-white support than any other candidate. But how he's (positively) received at an NAACP event isn't worth covering in the paper of record. 🤷🏾‍♀️

The health insurance plan proposed by @KamalaHarris has a 10 year phase in.

If Obamacare had had a 10 year phase in, Donald Trump would have taken office a little over halfway through the transition (& tanked it).

This is not a serious plan.

We need #MedicareForAll
@KamalaHarris Bernie's plan has a four year phase in.

The 1st year, it lowers the Medicare age to 55.
The 2nd year, it lowers it to 45.
Year 3, 35.

It adds dental, vision, & hearing benefits to Medicare year 1, & provides for continuity of care for folks with private insurance.

It rocks.
@KamalaHarris Health care as a human right means no premiums, no deductibles.

Under Bernie's #Medicare4All plan, the maximum anyone will pay in copays for prescription drugs is $200 a year.

A YEAR. Total.

He is paying black staff well, w/ 1 of 4 co-chairs (@ninaturner), his Deputy Campaign Manager (Rene Spellman) and Natl Press Sec (me) all black female senior staffers.

I've written about #Sanders over the years and like most leftists, thought his politics were an essential prod to others in Congress. But there are details of his political history here that #Bernie should be pushing instead of hiding: like that he was a Harvard fellow.

#Sanders is often presented as s spendthrift, but what propelled #Bernie from 3-term mayor of tiny Burlington into the House was his fiscal responsibility. He literally was deemed the Republican Trotskyite while mayor for reeling in spending and building the city's coffers.

At the risk of sounding condescending I feel like there are 4 things we should ask in this primary.

1. What are your policies ?

2. Are you proposing them in good faith?

3. Will you be effective in implimenting them?

4. are you fit for office?

This needs unpacking...

So the hardest questions are 2-4.

Whether a politician is seen as operating in good faith is often tied to whether we think a politician is "authentic."

This shit is huuuuuuugely sexist and priveledges men over women.

The insistence by white male writers that there is a two-white-man race out there between Bernie & Beto is so deeply, stunningly misogynist, it takes my breath away.

How is it POSSIBLE that these folks missed the blue wave which was fundamentally female--driven by women voters?
Not just driven by women voters, but driven by women candidates. Left-leaning women candidates, including WOC who ousted long-time older white male incumbents like....Bernie Sanders.

How is anyone missing this fact?
It's a major reason why Sanders' numbers have plummeted.

1. A few days ago, a lawsuit was filed with the FEC that alleges that the DNC and HRC's joint fundraising committee (JFC) and "HVF" (Hillary Victory Fund) and "HFA" (Hillary for America) circumbented federal contribution limits and earmarking restrictions to launder money
2. The way it worked (as per the suit) was this: The HVF would transfer funds to the state Democratic Parties, then, the State parties ON THE SAME DAY (or in some cases the day after) would wire that money to the DNC, who would then use the money by wiring it back to HFA.
3. In that way, the HFA (campaign) could skirt federal restrictions by taking the money folks donated above federal limit to the HVF, launder it through the states and the DNC, and into the HFA (campaign).
