1/ Evangelical right wingers have taken their dominant status 4 granted 4 so long & resided in their bubbles so long that any time their beliefs are challenged they claim it's oppression. Their liberty is being infringed! Not bc it is, but bc their normalcy is being challenged..
2/ When you are used to hegemony, pluralism feels like oppression. Having to share, having your views questioned & critiqued (the way you have ALWAYS critiqued others) seems like oppression. But it's not. If you think it's hard being Christian in America, try being anything else.
here's a good example: a clear bigot who has prosecutorial power, who claims he is being victimized when folks question his ability to do his job equitably and fairly, given, ya know, his bigotry...
