If he goes into that election with a Brexit deadline on polling day, he will lose.

Therefore he will also be forced to ask Europe for a further extension to accommodate the election, which they have already said they will.
That will put Brexit back to next March. Almost 4 years since the original referendum.

The amount of time we will have wasted on this - 4 years by then - and the number of prime ministers the Tories will have gone through in the pursuit, whoever is prime minister by then will be forced to hold another referendum.
So that's what we're getting. A general election, another extension, and another referendum.
