Hot off the blocks, Today's papers are full of the collapse of Laterooms.com and its sister company Super Break. 250 jobs gone at a stroke. Surely nothing to do with the slumping pound and an impending recession?

Just two days ago, I learned from Twitter that this small business in the southwest had folded with the loss of 8 jobs.

When Linwoods closed its distribution business last year (with the loss of 90 jobs) it said its bakery would be unaffected. Now it's closed and 70 jobs have gone. Evidently trading conditions have worsened significantly since then.

When a bloke from Wigan says to @lisanandy “Look, love, it was better before we were in the EU. I remember it, you don’t,” what he's saying is he wants it to be 1970 again.

Someone should tell him that leaving the EU won't bring back chips in newspaper.

And what @lisanandy is saying is, the only way to prevent populists mopping up the votes of disillusioned voters is to emulate the populists - even though you know that their snake oil will only make things worse.

You can lead appeasers to history books but can't make them read.
Here's an alternative hypothesis. I noticed that all the people interviewed by the Guardian were old. Could it be that many young people have moved elsewhere because the town offers them no future? If so (and I'm not saying it is), Brexit will only make it worse.

May's game is move to a 2nd ref but blame Corbyn by havin all neolib forces pressure him to support it. then rig the vote while scaring us out of 'no deal' which is actually just 'brexit' - what we voted for 1/18
if the Tories adopt:
Lab Customs union deal = they split
No deal = they split
May's deal = they split
A people's vote = the country splits
this has been their plan all along: to forfeit country for party. to steal brexit. they do not want to leave. 'no deal' was a rebranding 2/19
Corbyn knows this & is bluffing May all the way to that cliff edge because actually he's got wings, & the freedom of a clean break will aid his program, free from EU spending caps or investment rules. he's far more willing to push this to the wire than May 3/19

I am starting to wonder if the Tories are actually planning to use the chaos of a no deal #Brexit to declare a state of emergency suspend parliament and institute a dictatorship
This sounds paranoid but there actions are consistent with if not necessarily indicative of a plan to use #Brexit to do away with democracy itself
Vote Leave broke electoral law if the referendum was binding it would have been declared void because the referendum was advisory the electoral commission could not do this and the government is simply ignoring it showing no regard for democratic norms #Brexit

I talked to business lobby groups, Stephen Kelly from @ManufacturingNI fresh back from talks with Barnier. And bosses of big companies.

- all-UK in a temporary customs Union
- Northern Ireland only in Single Market for goods, via devolution
- no checks GB-NI
- 'de-dramatised checks on regs NI-GB
