Not just for President, U.S. Senate, Congress, and Governor. Confirm that you also vote for School Boards that implement policies, pass budgets, oversee hiring, and set priorities for school safety.

Confirm that you also vote in every city council race for the same reasons at a city level.
Confirm that you also vote for your county governing body for the same reasons.
And for Sheriff, District Attorney, Judges, and so on.
Every elected official on your ballots...
...has some responsibility in how safe from gun violence your community can become. Some positions more than others. But all of them have power. And it’s your vote which gives them the power.
Every election is your chance to pass the power to someone new who will do better.
Or keep someone in office who is using their power to serve the most good.
It may not satisfy the urgent need to see immediate action in the wake of a gun violence tragedy. It may feel like an empty act by comparison.
Just remember that you’re the one who puts the people...
...into office who eventually will respond to a future senseless shooting. Will they just offer thoughts and prayers? Or will they wield the power of their office to protect innocent lives?
As you weigh in on the horrific headlines, mention that you vote. In every election.
Show how voting in every election puts us in the position of power. How it puts elected officials on notice they’ll face an electorate stronger than the gun lobby.
As we improve the habit of voting, we will use ballots, not bullets, to effectuate winning outcomes.
Mourn, memorialize, mount protests on social media and in person. But also vote.
And where you’re able, strengthen the habit of voting in others. The best way to get the attention of electeds is at the polls. Even if it’s not their own election, just seeing the turnout...
...in an adjacent or overlapping district can be enough to put them on notice.
Overwhelm them on social media, sure. But put as much energy and focus to overwhelm them at the polls on Election Day.
In the end, that’s all that matters to them.
Join us in boosting turnout.
We’re the volunteers of the grassroots organization sending over 5 million handwritten #PostcardsToVoters since March ‘17 for 200+ Democratic candidates for office up and down the ballot across the U.S.
