“When white nationalists do antisemitisc things, remember that you started it by doing things that weren’t antisemitic.”
It’s worth breaking this down, I think, because so many people don’t understand that most political tactics are morally neutral—it’s how you use them, and to what ends, that matters.
Using public donor lists in the service of antisemitic propaganda campaigns is bad because antisemitic propaganda is bad.
Using public donor lists to target people for violence on the basis of their political donations is bad because targeting people for violence because of their political donations is bad.
Using public donor lists to make people fear pogromis bad because pogroms and threats of pogroms are bad.
Using public donor lists to drum up boycotts of businesses is morally neutral, because politically-grounded boycotts of businesses are a morally neutral tool that can be used for good or bad ends.
And so on. Most political tactics are, in the abstract, morally neutral. It’s what we do with them that matters.
