Chris Williamson knows he has behaved in a way that is unacceptable and he also knows that he has endorsed/platformed antisemites.

Williamson’s former staffers have acknowledged this & even claimed to have tried to speak to Williamson about it. He clearly isn’t listening.

I’m tweeting this after deliberating for weeks on whether it is the right thing to do... I have taken the decision that it is now in the public interest to highlight this particular interaction I had with a former Williamson staffer. It wasn’t an easy decision.

But the fact of the matter is that Chris Williamson has been repeatedly endorsing antisemites on social media - this is part of the behaviour that has caused so many complaints about him. His staff acknowledged to me in 2018 that they were aware of the issues and had raised it.

Williamson’s pattern of behaviour is entirely at odds with what is expected from Labour Party members and elected representatives. Those who are defending him now are engaging in campaigns of bullying, intimidation and threats. But that won’t work on me.

Chris Williamson should have no place in the Labour Party. Those who defend him, even after the publication of numerous pieces of evidence, should also have no place in the Labour Party.

The trauma & harm done to our Jewish comrades is immeasurable and truly horrifying.

I now feel entirely vindicated and justified in having published these messages. His unethical behaviour, messaging me to intervene and stop Chris Williamson being reported to the party, and now he’s admitting it publicly that that was his intention. Williamson must go.
