Some sisters try to include me in conversations that border on raunchy. I am not that person. There is a line between healthy sexuality and vulgarity. I talk about sex from a professional perspective. I do not want to trade sexual memes w/sisters I do not know.
I am a very private person IRL and I have mastered being able to tell someone a lot w/o revealing anything substantial about myself. I do not like to talk about exploits or what I prefer. I do not center myself in the work at all. What I do/like/try is unimportant.
I also hold things that I am told in strict confidence. It is a function of my work as The Village Auntie. So I am always a bit unnerved when people attempt to engage me in convos or activities that can be easily considered as veiled attempts at voyeurism.
The things that I have seen in some sisters forums demonstrates why we have such skewed ideas about our bodies. Women often perpetuate negative sexual stereotypes under the guise of "having fun". But all of it centers the male gaze. What's the fun in that, sis?
We have become so used to viewing phallocentric sex as the only route to pleasure. We have become reliant upon viewing women as objects to be toyed with during sex. And some of us as women have to share blame in perpetuating these tired narratives.
Some of us do not even know that the ways we choose to talk about and approach sex are forms of attention-seeking and/or a misguided path to emotional validation. Our pretense is based on a male-centered model of sex that completely dismisses women as deserving of satisfaction.
