The decision by the Israeli government to only allow @RashidaTlaib into the country on humanitarian grounds — while still barring @IlhanMN entirely — is a cruel joke, directly in line with how Israel uses humiliation & control to maintain its military occupation over Palestinians
We honor @RashidaTlaib's choice to refuse this humiliating gesture, a choice reflective of the strength of her moral core.
The crisis in Israel/Palestine is a political, not simply humanitarian, crisis. Refusing a political visit while allowing a humanitarian one to the exact same person is absurd.
Every day the Israeli gov makes a political decision to allow the crisis to continue by demolishing homes, detaining children in the middle of the night, building illegal settlements on Palestinian land, & restricting freedom of speech by Palestinians, Israelis, & internationals.
We reiterate our call to every single Democrat who spoke out against the Israeli government’s decision yesterday to refuse to visit Israel until every member of Congress will be let in with no pre-conditions by the government.
