UX Designers have the a huge amount of transferrable skills and would make great product managers

#uxaustralia #uxa19
Last yeah Ivy was having a robust discussion about whether or not Product Managers are just UXers?

So if the roles are so similar why do designers hate it?
Ivy says first look at the calendar.

Being able to immerse in a problem and properly think and synthesise some research, step back and reframe the problem is a struggle as a product manager.
As a product manager you skim across the surface of all the skills without ever spending the time to become an expert like UXers can.
Product Management is always beholden to the business.

Product Management is customer centric.

User experience is User Centred.
So what's good about product management?

If you heard these constraints and thought:

Speed & variety
So much to learn
Design constraints

And got excited. Maybe product management is for you!
If you want to explore it, map yourself against these skills, upskill and immerse yourself in a variety of skills, start solving problems in new ways and just start doing it!

If you're already doing it, be the obvious choice when a PM role becomes available.
@ivyhornibrook says UXers make the best product managers and that they need more of you!
