This bill probably goes as far as is possible in preventing No Deal, but would of course still be subject to EU agreeing to an extension. Drafting seems solid to me too
Sorry, should have said that the only cast iron way to prevent no deal is by revoking the article 50 notification - which the UK can do unilaterally. I think that’s where Parliament may end up, but clearly focussing today on preventing no deal being used as a bargaining chip
A few pointing out that if the EU response isn’t a straight ‘yes’ then there isn’t provision for that. Would be sensible to add a ‘best endeavours’ clause or similar to force PM to negotiate an extension rather than just asking for one
