I see the classist epithet for poor whites is trending. I suppose Bros are arguing that word is just as bad as the racist epithet Bernie used. Which begs the question, why didn't Bernie use it in his book? He was talking about the white working-class for whom that word is used
Seriously, why didn't he use it? I speculate that the feelings of those white working-class folks mattered more to him. No matter, the words are completely different in terms of power and who has it and that is evident in Bernie's argument.
Bernie himself described all the things that go into that class slur and then said, but what DID they have, they had the racist slur. They had some group they had power over and on whom they could look down. So Bros arguing equivalency are arguing against Bernie's point
