The video showing the gap of how war prisoners were greeted in the Russia-Ukraine swap is viral now.
Why surprised?
It wasn’t an equal swap: in Kyiv they celebrated ex political prisoners, in Moscow they were meeting a bunch of war criminals who got busted
Some foreign journalists call the swap ‘an attempt at normalizing the Russia-Ukraine relations.’ That’s just misguided: you simply can’t ‘normalize’ relations between a violent abuser and their victim. What is happening is an attemp to stop the violence and ‘freeze’ the war
‘Normalizing’ between the Kremlin and Ukraine would be returning the occupied Donbas and Crimea, releasing dozens of other political prisoners and stop interfering with the Ukrainian democracy. But that’s just incompatible with the colonial nature of Putin’s regime
