Update on the #Azov Sea crisis: Russia has fired on Ukrainian naval vessels and then boarded and seized them. This is in violation of international law, and is a pre-planned effort to prevent Ukraine from sailing in and out of the Kerch Straight. <1/3> thedrive.com/the-war-zone/2…
The international community should respond quickly and forcefully. The US and NATO allies should provide Ukraine with coastal defense systems such as land-based anti-ship missiles as well as systems to improve maritime domain awareness. These are defensive systems. <2/3>
The US should also freeze the assets of at least one Russian bank until Russia stops blockading the Ukrainian Azov Sea littoral. It's been obvious that Russia has been planning today's move for a long time, so let's hope the US isn't caught flat footed and moves quickly. <3/3>
