THREAD: Today was Jeffrey Epstein's hearing to set dates for discovery and trial. Since his surprise arrest by the SDNY on July 6 the flood gates of lurid and unspeakable details of his alleged acts against children have haunted me. How has he gone unchecked for '14 to 17 years'?
1. Epstein skittered through the paneled door and into his seat. We all craned to see if there were any visible signs bruises on his neck. There were not. He was wearing a brown t shirt, black prison uniform and orange slippers. His hands folded to his face the whole time.
2. The SDNY prosecutors requested discovery and pre-trial motion, it was agreed, motion schedule (discovery related motions and Non Prosecution Agreement, oral arguments 10/28/19. Pre-trial motions 3/12/20 tentative trial date after Labor Day 2020 will be 4 to 6 week trial.

The National Assembly as an arm of govt has a commission called the National Assembly Service Commission. It is an equivalent of the civil servant established by an act of parliament.
Under the law setting up the commission, there is what is called “Condition of Service” the guides the Operations and actions of every staff under the commission.

45 years ago today, delegates arrived at the Capital Hilton hotel in Washington DC for Day One of the 7th annual World Anti-Communist League (WACL) conference, the first to be hosted in the United States. #thread
A few months before Richard Nixon resigned, the President's Deputy Special Assistant, Burce Herschensohn, delivered the keynote address at WACL-7. Senator Jesse Helms (R-NC) co-chaired the conference with Congressmen Phil Crane (R-IL) and Clement Zablocki (D-WI).
The event was officially hosted by the American Council for World Freedom (ACWF), which had just elected Phyllis Schlafly's husband its new president. As an important member of the ACWF, Lev Dobriansky had a substantial role in organizing the conference.

Today , a mother to one of my Ugandan friends who studies around here called me . She was in so much pain , she cried on the phone for hours , she told me she hasn't eaten for days because she has not been in contact with her son.
Her son came here to do Political Science 3 years ago and is supposed to graduate this month . She almost fainted when I revealed to her that her son hasn't been seen anywhere near class for the last 2 years . He ONLY did 1st year of campus . She cried so bitterly , she wept .
