i thought it would be fun
to make a thread
(of tweets)
about every record i did
in the INTERNET CLUB
multiverse

i will do this at my own leisure. chronologically. see you in a thousand years
DISCLAIMER: Don't get your hopes up! There will be nothing here for you to cite in a dissertation
Internet Gospel Pt. II (June 2011)
the birth of the legend is an untagged .wma. this is God's music.
GATEWAY 2 UR DREAMS (July 2011)
INTERNET CLUB started in earnest as the artist name for bullshit mp3s i'd cook up and throw in the turntable.fm rooms that me, leonce and our new friends were part of... /cont
(still thinking of you, BUFFY HONKERBERG! MIDI Visions! vhsmidi! Bloghaus!!!!!!!!!! sunwashed!)
i tried to basically make an approximation of the music described in the immortal Pokémon Black copypasta. it's terrible. it's beautiful.
also re: Internet Gospel Pt. II, the title was nicked from FRKWYS 7, and i'd like to give a shoutout to tabor robak's tranceforever.net and ishkur's guide for introducing me to so much
Good evening hello sorry for ghosting this thread but i did say at my own leisure. Won't be the last time!
MODERN BUSINESS COLLECTION (July 2011)
「The True Beginning」
fun fact: I originally posted this on tumblr and pretended it wasn't me. can't remember the blurb I made about it. probably something about "webwave"?
Honestly thinking about it now I can't believe this weird shit we made back in the day has long since outlasted like... chillwave and witch house, which we'd always joke we were defiling the corpses of and which, like let's be real, were absolutely formative to us
Also shout out to EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE!, CFCF's mixtapes, OPN (i mean, duh, obviously), New Age Tapes-era James Ferraro, and "Dazzling" by Casiopea, especially in .mid format. Also The Rippingtons and the Internet Archive
I can't remember a lot from that time honestly, and I especially don't know why I started making a record a month. Too many ideas, too much spare time, too much... internet?
WEB FANTASY (OS X PARADISE MIX) (August 2011)
as I said a while back, nothing i made as INTERNET CLUB will ever be a tenth as good as floatsaka.swf. Including this.
By my side-side-side~
Leonce made a video for this once but his Vimeo's long gone.
Oh and duh. Shout out to Christian MEGAZORD Oldham. The legend! Sorry for annoying you on AIM way back when
DELUXE (August 2011) (part one of the DELUXE trilogy)
This one's fucking depressing!
Really though, I felt pretty terrible at the time, like listening-to-Deathconsciousness-a-lot level. was listening to that, prism genesis, quasimoto and dilla a lot at the time. shit's gothic!
DELUXE cont.
"FOREVER" and "NO MORE MONO" are some of the gnar-est tapefuckery i've done and the vocal chop on the title track is *chef's kiss*. HEARTS too. NEVER LOG OFF is also a favorite!
and yes—it was the first in a trilogy! DELUXE was self-contained when I first made it, but a ░▒▓certain record▓▒░ would change that. more on that later, obviously.
THE SHARPER IMAGE (made in September-ish 2011, released in November 2011)
this was commissioned as the soundtrack for Nerf Arena Blast but I was like a toddler when that came out so they let me hold off on making it until 2011. time works in interesting ways!
cont.
it's rather inconsistent (why i held off on releasing it for a couple months) but also like..... very consistent? it's the audio equivalent of jpeg compression. blocky and messy as shit.
Fun facts:
THE NORTH FACE was sampled from a video we watched in French class
cont.
"HOLDING AND CARRYING" came from the original twitter bio of one of my twitter friends. you know who you are!
"SCREENSAVER MUSIC" kind of doesn't fit, but at the same time it's one of my favorite IC tracks...it came from the same Depressed era DELUXE came out of. shit's raw
oh and another shout out! this one to the god Dreams West/James West. hope you doing good my guy!
i was starting on BEYOND THE ZONE but then I grew lazy so i'll pick this thread up later Okey dokey.
More shoutouts: Beat Electric, CHOCOLATE BOBKA, Altered Zones, and one of the most important, mysterious Youtube videos ever
Anyway, BEYOND THE ZONE (September 2011)
I love this record. It's totally unfuckwithable. It's literally perfect. It's stupid, OTT and the mood and atmosphere is perfect. Stars aligned!
Nah but I really fuckin' love this one. Shout out to Choro Q and The Push Kings
"WAVES" was a total accident that came from me accidentally starting multiple youtube videos at once
"12:1 ZOOM YR LIFE" was originally called "PRINT CLUB" and that's a much better title, idk why I changed it (later used that title for a PURE TRANCE track)
But like... the energy on this dumb little record is perfect. Sloppy MP3 damaged wanderings constructed out of shit I'm still obsessed with to this day. I love how garbage it sounds and then VIBES RIDDIM appears really high-quality at the end.
+ S/O!
NEW MUSIC CARTEL PRESENTS INTERNET CLUB - WEBINAR (October 2011)
Modern Office
- i remember faking sick (i might've been actually sick though??) so i could stay home from school and make this one.
- first time i -really- really went mad with the ableton effects
cont.
- it's been eight years? the fuck?
- kinda like BEYOND THE ZONE in its messiness but moving to the world of Modern Business—
- in my art class around this time we went to look at sculpture at an office park and that influenced this a lot. said office park will come up again
- UNCONFERENCE is probably the peak in terms of "random shit i made tracks out of". the loop isn't even two seconds long! it's absurd! it's beautiful!
- NEVERENDING EPIC MIX is a sign of things to come
- i liked how it was totally instrumental except for the bit i accidentally left in THE 1080P COLLECTION. used to hate that one fuckup but now love it?
- still on the run from the cops for all the stock music i pilfered
- RIP One True Media
- s/o 1080p the label come back soon
i feel like there's something else but i forgot but i'm sure i'll remember at an awkward time. also November 2011 was when THE SHARPER IMAGE dropped but i covered that earlier as i made it before then
NEW MILLENIUM CONCEPTS (December 2011)
- yes i accidentally misspelled "millennium" i'll never live it down
- the first track is literally called PERFECT BLUE in case it wasn't obvious what i had watched beforehand. RIP satoshi kon the god
- like BTZ it's a slept-on classic
- some track titles before i changed them were "A VISUALIZATION" and "DREAMIGA"
- *stretches* we all know what record came after this one
oh and special shout out to Julien Love "BABY ALL THE TIME"
the most influential music to us from this period barely exists online anymore and remains only in our memories and hard drives
*drumroll ends after five hours*
░▒▓新しいデラックスライフ▓▒░ [New Life Deluxe] - ▣世界から解放され▣ [Freed from the world] (('94/'12)) (part two of the DELUXE trilogy)
The .zip from Hell.
- yes technically it's "new deluxe life" but "new life deluxe" is what 15 y/o me put into google translate
- the subtitle for this record is "生命体2.0 インタラクティブ"
- made around the same time as the third part of the DELUXE trilogy, NHK REMINDS YOU TO BOOST YOUR SIGNAL
- it's been called an "emo ytp" and "the missingno of vaporwave" and i'm proud of this
- twitter.com/cyberia_mix/st…
- was originally going to be one long mp3 a la Computer Dreams - untitled but i changed my mind and can't remember why
- this is a record that exists
- URAP
here's some more koizumi desk
So yes, it's now January of 2012! Shit... that was a long time ago. I made a ton of stuff at this time, so much that I had a backlog! So I'll just go in release order now...
WEB FANTASY (Y2K HIGHWAY RACER MIX) (February 2012)
Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero one of the best game soundtracks ever don't @ me
Intel Inside®™
UNDERWATER MIRAGE (WEB).zip (March 2012)
- Aside from WEB FANTASY Y2K and the 2013 releases, this is the only IC record with a cover I actually constructed instead of straight ripping from youtube or random web images. Bevel! And! Drop! Shadow!
- the title track, WAVE TEMPLE and GEO are absolutely radiant while the rest sounds like Datavision Ltd. - NIGHTWAVES b-sides and me owing Computer Dreams royalties for ripping off their self-titled record. Still works?
- WAVE TEMPLE!
- The reverb on MODERN MOODS hits just right
REDEFINING THE WORKPLACE (April 2012)
Jesus Christ.
- I should've been banned from Ableton after making this record.
- The most uh *looks at script* Marxist IC record but at the same time the first track samples Tim & Eric so my mind was also there but I was also using the word "Spectacle" more often. But also Tim & Eric
- said this last month but it bears repeating the bit 20~ seconds into GLOBAL CONNECTIONS is one of the best things i ever did. Live and in full effect!
- Named after the former tagline of the Hall Office Park (now just HALL Park), the office park I mentioned influencing WEBINAR
Now is the time to mention the IC twitter, which i used from October 2011 to February 2012. i registered it with a bullshit email and a random keyboardsmash password, both of which I forgot instantly, so it's going to be here until Jesus comes back. twitter.com/CHILLWAVEGANG
jesus christ this record so much. just the way the overdone effects cause the samples to atomize once they're finished playing on a couple tracks? it's perfect

That panning on SYSTEM FOCUS is obscene though.
ECCO UNLIMITED - NHK REMINDS YOU TO BOOST YOUR SIGNAL (May 2012) (part three of the DELUXE trilogy)
Okay this is the last of the ones I made in that January 2012 period
Also I never liked the title it's got too many words in it
But this record goes off
- the DELUXE trilogy is finalized in an endless japanese cm purgatory/immanence
- Honest to god there's a bit of a Radiohead song on WORLDWIDE because my tape recorder was recording all the output from my computer, including whatever things may of popped up on it
- (it slaps but LIQUID NITROGEN was even better, more on that later)
DREAMS 3D (June 2012)
- i kinda keep forgetting about UNDERWATER MIRAGE and this one and when i was listening back to this i was struck by how... Gothic it is?? It's dark as shit!
- thanks to Scott for the opportunity to drop this on Ailanthus!
- I sent Lil B "GLOBES" when he tweeted about wanting beats but he never responded. Honestly, he was probably too busy being a fucking creepazoid on Twitter to notice.
- the back half of this is goth as shit! and then the title track ends it fuckin' beautifully like goddamn
Also GLOBES is an all-time classic but that goes without saying.
I C Q & DITHER (both released June 2012)
the most mysterious IC files! Dispatches from nameless unmappable internet no-man's-lands. Creepy innerzones! and I completely forgot DITHER existed until last year, which feels very, very fitting.
VANISHING VISION (July 2012)
- 🎶Bob's Pizza!🎶
- Featuring the #1 smash club hit single RENDERS
- I had no idea at the time I was sampling something Touhou related on DREAM TACTIX. i think i had a tiny idea of what it was but definitely didn't know any of the music
- (now of course i treasure Touhou)
- made at the same time as DREAMS 3D and kind of a mirror image/prequel/sequel/reboot/reimagining/continuation/return of it?
- Those first eight tracks are an unfuckwithable run
- Something something aesthetic?
- I also actually meant this as the original last INTERNET CLUB album, but something drove me to make a couple more
PURE TRANCE (August 2012)
- Specifically intended as a sequel to BEYOND THE ZONE, and shares a lot of its qualities but a bit... danker?
- alongside BTZ and TSE it's easily the worst sounding IC record. not for audiophiles!
- VV and this started my love for TWO-MIX
- Not actually that trancey!
- "SIX TREES" more like "six thousandth time i cut up some pianos and called it a track" amirite
- Are BTZ, NMC, VV and this an unofficial quadrilogy?
See you in a lil'
tfw this tweet will become reality in like a week
FINAL CHAPTERS OF INTERNET CLUB: FINAL TEARS & ~final end~: WEB FANTASY (REAL ESTATE OUTSIDE OF EUCLIDEAN SPACE MIX) (September 2012)
s/o Ailanthus again! also the titles took up more than half the tweet so i'll continue this next tweet
Honestly I'm kinda iffy about this one? It feels very "watches Wong Kar-Wai once". i like how over the top and messy it's willing to get but it just ends up an Orientalist mess. I'm not particularly happy about it.
the third WEB FANTASY track is nice but I definitely felt myself running out of steam at this point. shit just didn't hit like it used to!

So IC ends and I take the glitchtrash of FINAL TEARS and start doing things as Wakesleep. Then a few months later...
INTERNET CLUB ONE MORE FINAL: ICQ2 (January 2013)
...a few months later this happens.
ICQ2 wasn't intended as a back-to-basics record but it came out of the same place IC originally did: just getting random ideas out of nowhere to make shit for the hell of it. Plus it felt like a better way to send off the IC name. Also it fucking rips.
monument XIII - honestly + memorex dawn - galleria (January 2013)
January 2013 was also... a time! Came down with a bad case of the Depression the month before and the three IC-related records I put out in as many weeks (plus Wakesleep) came out of that and it... shows. A lot!
Still slowly digging myself out of that hole. I love these records but they can also bring back memories of that time.
That winter was quite beautiful, despite my brain being a mess. The three January 2013 records reflect that, I think. Damn.. "honestly" is depressing as shit!
Fun facts: "monument" originally was going to be for the next NIGHTWAVES mixtape (it'll come out in 2074!) but it's also very... not funky. and "snow" was a flip of a track from Leonce's legendary, apocryphal 2012 record "P R A D A" he made under the "fashion dream" alias
"prozac" of course samples the indelible Cisco hold music. legit curious—was I the first person to sample it? it's been sampled by others since then, and apparently how to dress well based a whole track off of it?

Also damn, this record is depressing.
the cover, the alias "memorex dawn", and the track "luxx" all date back to late 2010/early 2011. i was wanting to make a record like this for a while, and finally did here. kind of marvel at how i got the reverb and effects so dead on?
and "outlet" is just this pure never-ending sheet of sound....
also someone made a 30-minute loop of "sky active" on youtube so i think i did something right?
"commons" came from a trashed cassette tape someone found and put online. wish i could remember the blog...
SunCoast Web Series (June-July 2013)
s/o fortune 500!
The final releases of the INTERNET CLUB multiverse! It's a bit of a whimper, tbh.
Looking back, it feels like me exploring a lot of possibilities without elaborating on them?
There's many possible directions in these releases—"Diamond World" in particular is pretty absurd—but it ends up rather... indeterminate. It almost feels meta?
If anything, the stuff i worked on the last two years as -insight NetProject- fulfilled that potential a lot better.
*fast-forwards tape*
monument XIII reemerged a couple times since 2017 as monument XIII DualAudio, insight NetProject/Emulators happened/is happening, and now INTERNET CLUB is bringing a live team-building session to LA. What does it all mean???? Hmph.
I think it means.... I'm back where I started, in the sense that I'm just chilling and making shit on my own schedule, perhaps? Not that I wasn't always, but now there isn't any more hype and I'm not seeing if i can make a thing a month.
IDK. I'm just fucking around on the internet with friends. Things are different of course since the world is a fucking mess and my brain is broken but I'm trying to live I think?
Oh my fucking god. I forgot something.
ECCO UNLIMITED - LIQUID NITROGEN (November 2012)
fuck I love this one! the only IC record intended for a physical medium, it's gnar as hell... like a perfect hellish meshing of digital and analog and organic and artificial. shit's the audio equivalent of body horror. Key text!
Design by Whatever™! Released by Exo Tapes! s/o jccg! but yeesh yeah this one is great. super nasty.
Anyway what was I saying.
Is this the end of the thread IDK am I done navel-gazing and self-mythologizing god help me

HONK
honk i realized i forgot a couple more things and generally have more to say but this will be later i must get thee to sleep
also honk a few weeks ago i quietly added a link on internetclubdotcom.angelfire.com to a mega folder with the original copies of all the IC universe records
on the topic of REDEFINING THE WORKPLACE i don't know how i didn't know this but Hall Office Park literally has an INTERNET BOULEVARD images3.loopnet.com/d2/6GXkW5V-lW5…
Unregistered HyperCam 420 (August 2012 Loops Etc.) (recorded January/August 2012, released August 2013)
- Completely unvarnished, mostly untouched loops I made in mid-2012, a couple of which were then fucked with by Daytime Television on one of his releases
- very rough and mostly overlong as you'd imagine but they're all #HEAVY_SLAPPERS regardless. the pitch-shifting late in SIX is some RPG dungeon shit. Super gnar!
- SEVEN is a live look at me discovering Seo Taiji
also forgot to mention the subtitle for ECCO UNLIMITED - NHK was "3D VHS LANDSCAPE"
anyway
What the fuck
how did i forget to shout out the legends RUN DMT?
