(THREAD) I want to take a step away from the politics of our government for a moment and talk about the politics of our Twitterverse. More specifically, I want to talk about some politics of our Re$i$tance. I had a huge wake up call over the last week that even in our movement(1)
there wolves in sheeps’ clothing. Not that I’m surprised by that as there are predators everywhere, but I am shocked by the fact that there are those among US who are enabling it. People who scream, “Believe Women!”, then turn around and question victims of predation because (2)
“he’s never done that to me.” Are the rules on Twitter different than the rules IRL? Would we say that to a victim IRL? I’m just beside myself over this. There are people asking for proof from women who were so embarrassed and ashamed at having received graphic pics or video(3)
from a “man” they trusted for months that they immediately deleted it for fear that their loved ones may accidentally stumble across it and be upset. Women are blaming themselves for something they didn’t do, didn’t ask for, didn’t want, and have taken actions that are not(4)
unlike THE shower that way too many of us have taken trying to wash away the violence of what had been done to us. Not that EVERY victim has deleted this “evidence” of online predation, but many do. It doesn’t make their experiences any less real or less damaging. However, (5)
to have people from the #BelieveWomen crowd bitterly question these women does ADD to it. So does implying that even talking about the predation is some how harming our ability to unite to get the Dump and his cronies out of our government. Twitter was around long before we (6)
realized we had to fight against a fascist coup. It was about connecting in general, right? This platform isn’t solely for airing political grievances. This is just another example of something that the Dump has touched and destroyed. (7)
Sidenote: I am in no way pointing fingers at any one person. I saw many posts the last week like that, and honestly didn’t make a mental note of who has said what. So I hope no one feels like I’m attacking anyone. (8)
All that being said, I do want to share some red flags that can be used to weed out known predators before they have a chance to hurt you. I am not going to call them out by name here BTW AND REQUEST NO ONE ELSE DOES EITHER PLEASE. (9)

*Repeated deactivation of large accounts over being doxxed “with the wrong man’s information” because “they” had a vendetta. But then starts another one barely hiding his past identities.(10)
*Asks you to join a group (esp. if you appear to be new to Twitter) because “you’re a star” and your posts need to be amplified. But then doesn’t want you to tell anyone that he’s the admin of said group. He’ll be adamant that you tell no other group’s admins who he is. (11)
*May admit to having been accused of sexual harassment in the past (via DM’s only, he won’t share ANY personal information in your group), but will insist that it was by scorned women and the allegations are totally untrue. (12)
Obviously, those 🚩 🚩 are pretty specific, and not all inclusive of the abusive behavior that happens. Not all predators are involved in groups either. However, hopefully knowing at least one predator’s tactics will save someone from 💔. Stay safe.💙(End) cnn.com/2017/10/26/hea…
