I keep hearing "Snowden must've given secrets to the Russians", for various reasons, such as in exchange for asylum.

Stop that. Let's discuss evidence/data, not conspiracy theories.
Maybe Russia was in the stronger bargaining position, refusing to admit Snowden unless he gave up secrets. Or maybe Snowden was in a stronger bargaining position, knowing what a propaganda coup it would be for the Russians.
Maybe there's a ton of factors of which we have no knowledge. Such decisions are often made by individuals for their own personal, petty reasons rather than by organizations with a hive mind.
The point is that such things are idle speculation. They are based upon ignorance, not being smart enough to have better explanation, rather than evidence that supports an explanation. "I can't explain why Snowden went to Russia except <conspiracy>".

It's Trump's argument that there was "no quid pro quo" that convinces me. If it were a legitimate "favor" he was asking for, then "quid pro quo" is legitimate. That "quid pro quo" would be illegitimate means the favor was illegitimate.
If asking Ukraine to dig up dirt on his political opponents were in the national interest, then threatening or bribing the Ukraine is totally appropriate. In fact, that's pretty much how all foreign policy works.
Would it be legitimate for Trump to say 'Can you do me a favor and send $100,000 to my bank acount? There's no quid pro quo here, I'm promising nothing in return.".

Of course not. And what he's asking is worth more than $100,000 to him -- dirt on Biden.

BTW, I'm firmly on the "impeach Trump" side of things. I was on the fence after the Mueller report, but the published transcript is clear requirement that congress impeach Trump.
It's not about 'quid pro quo". Instead it's abusing authority to criminally investigate a political opponent, and currying personal favors from foreign leaders. This is outright corruption, and if it's not impeached, then it's tacit complicity in corruption.
As I've tweeted before, it's hard being on Assange's side, because I don't think the DoJ is being politically motivated going after him. Our justice system doesn't have such politics.

Except now Trump proves it does. He must be impeached for that.

I write this up because I hate the explanations trying to debunk Trump saying "there is no server". This totally misstates Trump's position. He's saying the servers were mishandled, not that he knows of a particular server.
Moreover, there's obvious bias in the media. Nobody is debunking the "server" located in Trump Tower secretly talking to Alpha Bank, even though we have unambiguous evidence no such server exists.

The best way to gauge the Kremlin’s complicity is to consider that its involvement is directly proportionate to the number of conspiracy theories being floated by #Russia’s state media (e.g. #MH17). With respect to #Skripal, numerous “alternative story plots” are already in play.
