It is about time Pakistan army high command structure is reconfigured. Currently, the COAS presides over the Corps Commanders. At least six Corps commanders can pretty much announce the breakup of Pakistan.
2. For instance, if the Corps Commander Karachi declares, Karachi an independent country; the COAS has no Army under his control in Karachi to prevent him from doing that. Similarly, the Corps Commanders at Peshawar, Lahore, Multan, and Quetta can do that too.

4. The Corps Commander Mangla did the same when he sent Brigade 111 to PM house and other brigade to TV station. The COAS Gen. Butt was unable to control them as he had no troops support in Karachi or Pindi.
5. In the new configuration, the post of Corps Commander has to be eliminated. The COAS should either be an Administrative post and not a command post OR there should be a committee of three or more Joint Chiefs of Staff.
