Something worthwhile to think of – people should stop comparing the economy's well-being to people's well-being. There simply is no constant relation between these two, we see it in most developed nations, like the US or Germany.

Furthermore, I have got some ideas to add: Even though it's a popular stance nowadays, especially on the liberal progressive left, we have to think about not weighing too much in the economy's well-being, bracing for an ill-prepared future of rising sea levels, melting polar caps
and more frequent natural catastrophes such as droughts and monsoon-like rainfalls, which are both equally going to hit the poor the most. As many have already exclaimed fervently, economic well-being might be our doom, and as populist as it might sound, it's got a true core:
It's needless to say that the economy benefits from exploiting soil, we see it with Indonesian plantations, mining corporations ransacking Central African countries, and mining companies in the US, intoxicating seas and rivers. Do you think the companies' CEOs thought twice about
the consequences of their actions? You bet! Of course they didn't. Hence, it's even more hypocritical that many of them now side with environmentalists in their attempts to fight for more environmental friendliness. It's good framing for them, an uplift of their broken reputation
And a welcome support for those same environmentalists. Who would turn down such strong support? Only few of them were determined enough to turn them down, regarding their background. Especially tech companies are scoundrels when it comes to mining operations in Africa, digging
for rare earths necessary for today's tech innovations. I don't necessarily speak about Facebook, but more about Sony, Huawei, etc. You know what I mean.
Anyway, think about it: The economy would experience a hard time when it comes to readjusting for "greener" technology, or
"economising" in general. It would come along with shrinking profits, followed by comparably lower profits in the future. Many companies are going to oppose this at all costs. To make things worse, we don't have much time to negotiate this, or even make fundamental compromises.
It's an all-or-nothing situation we are caught in, thanks to decades of inactivity in regards to environmental conditions. It's like you delayed your work on an important paper, until you realise you only have two more days to finish it. Imagine this, and convert it into our
planet and its habitability. That's where we are currently located in. There's nothing to joke about, the situation is dead serious. END
