THREAD

Tomorrow will be 22 months tomorrow since I (Andy) set up @RemainerNow Twitter account as I felt those whom have changed their minds are the most vital voices in this debate & wanted to do something to get them heard.

I had no political experience at the time, prior the the referendum result I had never been out campaigning or been a member of a political party.

About 6 weeks after starting @victoriaremain1 reached out to say she had worked on campaigns and wanted to help me grow this

2/18
After meeting she came on board & for the first year it was just the two of us doing this in our spare time. We set up a website, Facebook page and an Instagram, arranged a 3 events in parliament & a meet ups for #PeoplesVote marches but was a limit to what we could do.

3/18
We did do some small ad hoc crowdfunds to help us cover some costs (e.g travel costs for #RemainerNow for events or materials) but basically the 2 of us donated lots of time after work & outside family time to try & make it clear the UK has changed its mind. It was hard.

During the @Rally4OurRights on Saturday I spoke about the campaign but also finished with my personal reasons for fighting this mess (the whole speech is on on YouTube) & that bit of the speech is here.

If this resonates with you please chip in remainernow.com/donate

Over the last 10 months @victoriaremain1 and I have recruited other volunteers to help us manage things. These guys only give their time and accept no money from the campaign and we are massively grateful to them.

We would like to give them a shout out for all they do!

6/18
First there is @Card5hark, we met him via twitter & since just before Christmas last year he has been diligently downloading & subtitling #RemainerNow clips from loads of sources for us to use on Social Media but also managing our YouTube E.g.

7/18
Second there is @JamieWoodhouse, he is also a volunteer. His main role is helping us verify and engage with new #RemainerNow we meet here on twitter. This helps our integrity & makes people feel at ease. He also helped out at events (like @libdems conference & marches)

8/18
Thirdly we have @NeilMaybin he also gives his time for free. He is in charge of monitoring comments on our Facebook page to combat trolls but also engage with and welcome new #RemainerNow we have there. This is fantastic and key work that we would not have time to do.

9/18
Now all 5 of us voted remain but we also have a group of #RemainerNow guys that help us behind the scenes. @Snoozette1 @SimRiyat @Dan4Huntingdon & @ChrisOram1990 (who also now hosts our podcast) help advise on tactics and plan events and thanks to them. Vital stuff. 👏

10/18
These volunteers are so important and we thank them so much but if we are going to grow this campaign it can't be done just on a shoestring with volunteers & we thank everyone who has helped with funding calls for specific events or via remainernow.com/donate or gofundme

11/18
Since March we realised to grow we needed to do more & @victoriaremain1 quit her job to act as campaign manager full time. This means she is able to deal with media requests & coordinate and plan events like what we did at party conferences or the upcoming Brussels trip.

12/18
We have always wanted to be transparent with the funding we do receive and that's why we regularly update the funding transparency webpage. This hopefully gives those who support us the peace of mind that we are sensible with donations. Read here.

We also have had a few others come on board recently.

@ellemayhobson is a great filmmaker and she has produced things like this. At the moment we simply have covered her travel for her to do these in spare time but we would love to have the money to get her to do more.

14/18
We also, thanks to some one off sizable donations from key supporters have managed to engage Alex. He's spent 3 years running digital @euromove & he'll help us a few hours a week with updating our website, update emails & targeting boosted posts.

These staff expenses/fixed costs that we wish to cover every month (on top of website hosting etc) but we also want to be able to produce materials that can be used by other campaign groups. We want to be able to have money to promote our content on various social channels.
16/18
So the point of this thread is in essence a plea. We really think we have built a great campaign and we are increasing close links with big campaign groups like @bydonkeys @peoplesvote_uk & especially @BestForBritain but we now really need regular funding to plan ahead.

17/18
I fully appreciate that there are many political causes & there's a limit to what people can do, but if you know someone or an organisation that may want to help our campaign with a monthly donation so we can forward plan do put them in contact
