Me : The market is a tool of society, not a replacement for it. Capitalism itself is based upon exclusion i.e. for some to have, others must not. The major determining factor is not by talent or hard work but by accident of birth ...

... the worst excesses are counterbalanced by systems such as democracy (when that functions) and social precedents in law otherwise capitalism would drive us to a Feudal system based on capital where everything & everybody is for sale, whether they want to be or not.

In its current form, the payload of capitalism is the interests of a few over collective interest based upon imaginary counts of historical value, the mechanism of delivery is greed and illusory choice for the masses.

It would be difficult to describe me as a fan of such idiocy.

Especially since the current form values "wealth" (i.e. mostly illusionary value) over sustainability of the planet (i.e. actual wealth) whilst dismissing the difference as some sort of externality that we just need to find the right incentives for. It's barking mad.

X : Any solutions?
Me : An expanded Golgafinchan B ark full of management consultants, investment bankers and the 1%?

Well, they mostly reckon they're going to escape by going into space. We could give them a push?

Me : Possibly. I'll drive. I'd think it of as doing my public duty and it saves an awful lot of ptichforks and messy business.
