3. Forget total spending. Let us look at per child spending. Wo, look at those underfunded schools in America!
4. Okay, ignore the amount of money America spends on educating children. At least, they get high quality education compared with others in the developed world, right? Well, ... not quite! In math scores, America is third ... from the bottom!
5. Alright, how about science then? Umm, not looking much better there either.
6. The U.S. is the clear leader in total annual spending but ranks 9th in Science performance and 10th in Math.

7. By the way, the issue in the U.S. is not that the teachers are paid too much (good teachers are worth their weight in gold, and frankly cannot be paid enough). The issue is two-fold:
a) Teachers are mostly paid on tenure, not performance
b) Gargantuan administrative overhead

8. If we want to make any progress on quality of education, I would start with publishing teacher to non-teacher ratio for every school district in America, as well as spending on teacher salaries & benefits versus total school district spending.
9. You will be surprised where all the property taxes go in the name of children's education. We are not lacking for 'investment' in education. We are lacking in 'return on investment.'
