Mississippi will have an election under a Jim Crow-era electoral college-style law requiring the victor to not only win the popular vote, but a majority of House districts.

White supremacists gathered around civil rights martyr Emmett Till's memorial today with a Mississippi Flag & a League of the South flag to film a racist propaganda video. The Emmett Till Interpretive Center's security cams at the now-bulletproof monument caught them. 1/
Shortly after, members of the white supremacist org disperse & scurry to their cars after apparently setting off a security alarm at the newly-replaced Emmett Till memorial, now bulletproof, after being shot up repeatedly. (Warning: loud video). Story + more footage coming. 2/

Here comes the part where Tate Reeves invokes transgender *children* to attack Dem opponent Jim Hood, accusing him of supporting him. For the record, I reported on Hood's response when he was asked about transgender children earlier this year... ⅟ #MSelex #MSGov
Reeves' claim that Hood has been at the forefront of trans rights is silly. Hood, asked if he supports trans kids going to bathrooms that correspond w their identity:

If this commission passes, Oklahoma could end up with a congressional map looking somewhat like this one. Dem Rep. Kendra Horn's red-leaning #OK05 would become a few points less red, but Republicans could easily gerrymander her out of her seat if they remain in control after 2020

In the new case, Colorado was clear that the Popular Vote Compact is at stake: "[Colorado] argues... that we must decide whether there is 'any constitutional bar against the States binding their electors to the outcome of the State’s popular vote.'"

The 10th Circuit concluded that states do NOT have that power: "states do not have the constitutional authority to interfere with presidential electors who exercise their constitutional right to vote for the President and Vice President candidates of their choice."

1/ The idea that the Electoral College doesn't work because it doesn't always match the popular vote is a misunderstanding of the Electoral College.
2/ An electoral college is a group of *delegates* chosen by a larger group of people to make a decision on their behalf. The electors deliberate and vote amongst themselves.
3/ The House of Representatives operates on the same principle. Rather than deciding on legislation by popular vote, we vote for delegates, electors, representatives—all the same idea—to deliberate and vote on our behalf.

Democrats don't need a candidate who can also appeal to Trump voters. What's needed is someone/ a team to motivate the people who share their values but normally stay home or tune out.
Trump won the electoral college through what's essentially a rounding error, and lost the popular vote. There was tons of apathy, complacency, and Clinton-specific reservation rooted in sexism but also in historical baggage. This is totally doable.
Who is exciting? Who gets people up out of their chair? Who represents the future? That's who will win.

Ignore the polls and get out there and #Vote on November 6th. Relying on polling is a relic of a time gone by.
I’m not saying looking at @FiveThirtyEight’s model and charts and stuff isn’t cool, because it is and provides some insight. But no matter what the numbers say, it’s most certainly NEVER an excuse to not #Vote because you feel your peeps are a “lock”
Need nothing further than to point to 2016. Which by the way, @FiveThirtyEight didn’t really have wrong, but the “selected not elected” mindset existed before 2016. Why else would over 100 million people choose NOT to participate in their civic duty to choose their leaders.
