I've often written about this over the past 3 years at my Avast blog. Privacy violations, data breaches, & other security failures aren't consistently monitored or punished, leaving consumers to fend for themselves in the Wild West. blog.avast.com/author/garry-k…
Companies rely on a perverse cycle of damage control PR and even worse news. The next big breach or abuse makes people forget about the last one, so brands rarely suffer long-term consequences.
If banks were being robbed every day, there would be outrage at the mayor & police. But the blame for data hacks & privacy violations by companies is vague, often by design, and it happens so often it's treated like annoying noise, not crime.
