BREAKING: I understand Labour has dropped its candidate in the key seat of Bassetlaw. Sally Gimson has been accused of “inappropriate behaviour in a Labour Party meeting”. She was selected just a week ago. Huge anger among her supporters.
The accusation is that Sally Gimson has been forced out to make way for a left wing candidate. Labour Party HQ yet to respond.
Labour source: “You get dropped for being rowdy in meetings, but not for being a racist it seems.”
UPDATE: I’m told case against Gimson related to “very serious allegations concerning protected characteristics” i.e. race, gender, sexuality, disability.
