Knowing that his Brexit has chased off EU nurses that accounted for *all* the growth in nursing staff in the years before 2016.
Also to say immigration puts huge strain on NHS is just a plain, proven, arrant lie.
In 2016, 7% of our nursing & home visit staff and 10% of doctors were from the EU.
Ie EU immigration added more to supply side than demand side of NHS.
Furthermore, EU citizens are younger & far less demanding on NHS.
*If* non-British EU citizens were exactly the same as British citizens, then they’d only add a 5% extra burden to the NHS.
But by virtue of being younger, healthier, less demanding, using home country services, etc - they are much less demanding.
So EU immigration has been *heavily* supply-side heavy for our NHS... as has been viscerally felt since 2016.
