The leadership of @PoliceNG isn't doing enough to control & punish mis-conduct by their personnel. The abuses are getting too much. 2 days ago, Tues, not too far from Concorde Hotel, Owerri, a team of policemen assaulted a @PMTNigeria driver for failing to tip them.... THREAD
Trouble apparently started when the driver appeared reluctant to part the with amount demanded by the @PoliceNG #StopAndSearch team. They ordered him out of his vehicle & went after him with hands & guns. Before long the driver was on the ground.
As the assault continued, other road users gathered & tried to plead but without much success. Instead of calling him men to order, the senior officer leading the team, an ASP, cld be seen on his phone apparently making or taking a call.
By the time the anger of the @PoliceNG team was assuaged ostensibly for not getting the money they wanted, the driver had bn stripped absolutely naked & laid on the bare tarmac wth the officers standing over him, where moments earlier, they were wrestling him with his clothes on
In their version of the story, the Police Public Relations Officer #PPRO, Imo State Command, now accuse the driver of "stripping himself naked, & lied (sic) down on the road, and refused to leave, the Police man seen in the picture was trying to pull him out of the road...."
The PPRO continues:

"The leader whom (sic) was seen in the picture making calls was trying to call for reinforcement to enable them clear the road to make for free flow of traffic." So, the PPRO claims that several armed @PoliceNG officers needed help with an unarmed driver!
Yet, the PPRO claims that the @PoliceNG team "has been identified & detained, while waiting for appropriate disciplinary actions" & calls on the driver, whom it describes as a "victim" to "come & give his own account of whatever transpired."
Some questions must be asked:

1. So what are the @PoliceNG officers detained for?
2. What disciplinary infractions are they accused of?
3. If the @PMTNigeria driver voluntarily undressed himself, then what was he "victim" of?
4. What shd the driver go to @PoliceNG to testify to?
It's easy to see how a "victim" whom @PoliceNG describes as having rendered himself naked wld not wishto show up to contradict the incredibly tortured version put out by the Imo State PPRO. I hope @PoliceNG_CRU can take an interest in thus & take a good look at it.
