I like this example because it would actually lead to chaos (in the US.) I'd wager that if you polled every single US citizen asking them if they would support arming al-Qaeda *anywhere* the number of non-elite respondents who say "yes" would be low enough to count on two hands
Sometimes I think about how much better off the world would be if the US had a lottery system for oval office instead of this rigged electoral college and media landscape that makes it impossible for anyone except ivy league educated yes men to get any power in this country
