Every election year without fail. Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry. By election day Republicans said they were all to the left of Mao. So just advocate the ideas that will help the most people and motivate the most voters and fuck what GOP says.
If Republicans can run on a wall I see no reason Democrats can't run on educating everyone and keeping everyone healthy without tying ourselves up into knots over it. But so far I'm seeing multiple Democrats fail miserably in this regard. Still afraid of Republicans and the media
I want Democrats to just say what our party and movement and a majority of Americans want. Whatever marginal vote you lose from fiscal squishes you'll make up in motivating millions of other voters.
In 2008 Democrats surely lost some voters in nominating a black candidate. But look how many more people made up the difference and added much more on. This is similar.
I don't think Fiscal moderates/conservatives are much of a voting bloc but I think Fix-It Americans are a huge one. And I'd rather motivate those people than live in a world where Republicans feel free to whip up racists with wall promises and win.
And oh by the way while Democrats are busy shooting ourselves in the feet on education and health care, the Republicans have NOTHING to offer on either topic, unless you count "LOOK! BROWN PEOPLE!" as ed/health care policy.
