And Dieselgate continues. VW's business offices were the target of a search warrant on Tuesday in conjunction with what appears to be an emissions defeat device introduced in the EA 288 engine, which replaced the known-cheating EA 189 engine.
The EA 288 has been used in various configurations for the following cars:

"Moody's upgrades Tesla Auto Lease Trust 2018-A Notes". Is this a financial post? No. I want to instead point out the reason *why* Tesla got this upgrade:

"The upgrades were prompted by strong residual value performance of the underlying lease contracts"
Put in plain terms: @Tesla cars (Model S/X in this case) simply aren't depreciating much, so leaseholders end up holding a more valuable asset when the lease expires.

Teslas have famously low depreciation. ISeeCars calculated Model S depreciation at a third that of..

I just went and checked the first image on the list. Those bright colours screamed "copper mine" to me. Doing a reverse image search, here's the oldest pic on the net:

You have brine underneath a salt crust. Brine is pumped to the surface to sun-dry. As it concentrates, most non-lithium cations precipitate out, leaving a lithium concentrate.

Heading into night court in Brooklyn where I’ll be meeting clients for the first time & arguing for release until 1am. I can’t complain. I’m free to go home afterward. I’ll try to update here if/when I have time. For now: Photo of criminal court w/ badly tangled American flag.
First 2 things observed tonight: 1. Two benches full of family & loved ones outside courtroom waiting for it to open up. Mostly women & young children. 2. Behind courtroom, eight women just brought from central bookings, shackled together, struggling to move. Their laces removed.
4 days ago: 28 y/o client was charged w/ violent felony, $10k bail set, in Rikers. Tonight: Prosecutor *dismissed all felonies,* served paperwork w/ significant inconsistencies, mom said she can’t afford any bail. I asked for release. Judge changed bail to $2k. Far beyond reach.
