Thread. 1. A few points to make about the thankfully renewed debate about #Huawei (& ZTE) #5G in the UK. (article below as an example of the news from the NATO summit)

@MailOnline 2. As those that read these tweets know, the UK's mobile carriers have been deploying #Huawei #5G for many months now, creating 'facts on the ground'. They have done this in full knowledge that the govt decision was pending.

3. #Huawei have made a massive push into the UK. It was clearly the 'Five eyes' ally that they figured could be won over first.

4. Back in June I gave an interview where I specifically talk about what is going on in the UK. I want to draw attention to it because if there is a 'ban' or a de facto ban on #Huawei #5G, someone is going to have to eat the cost of rip & replace of what's already deployed.

5. If that rip & replace order comes, then there needs to be guarantees that the taxpayer isn't expected to compensate for the defiantly premature decisions of others. Now would be a good time to clarify who would eat such costs. The carriers? Huawei? someone else?
