[Boris Thread] 1/ I have continued my analysis of Boris Johnson's hard Brexit (hb) tweets. In summary, his most recent HB tweet, sent on 20th September, shows continued large scale amplification by right-wing Trump supporting accounts. Stats to follow
2/ I analysed around 5,632 retweets of Boris's HB Tweet from the 20th. Around 4,276 of these accounts had biographical details on their profile. As with a lot of Boris' hard Brexit tweets, this one was also highly retweeted compared to his others.
3/ Indeed, this tweet was his fourth most popular out of his last 50 tweets posted over the last 10 days....
4/The most frequently appearing biographical words in those retweeting his HB tweets are 1) MAGA 2) Trump 3) Love 4) Brexit 5)Conservative 6) KAG (Keep America Great). MAGA appears a stunning 519 times. Indeed, 515 individual accounts retweeting Boris here contain the words MAGA 
5/ In fact, 20% of people retweeting BJ's hard brexit tweet have either Trump, MAGA or KAG in their bios (in addition to a few more fringe acronyms, Qanon etc). That's 20%. Again, the most cohesive community amplifying Johnson here is one that identifies primarily with Trump
6/ The jury is still out on how many of these accounts are actually real. I believe they are not. It is likely the same community of trolls or bots are probably retweeting Boris. We are still seeing that suspicious group of re tweeters who had their accounts created in Jan 2017
7/ Even if the accounts were all genuine, it is still cause for alarm. Remember, 3% of Boris's followers have MAGA/Trump/Kag in their biographies, yet they frequently represent 8-23% of those retweeting and amplifying his hard Brexit message. So if real, they are passionate...
8/Also, as usual, these tweets by BJ seem to attract the overtly Islamophobic, below is a selection of such bios - which again, seem strangely 'off'. Also, after the UK and USA, Israel is mentioned the most. Another common pattern we see among these accounts..
9/ Although I mentioned it before, look how common the word 'love' is. That one always cracks me up....
10/ It's been about 3 weeks since I did my first analysis of BJ's retweets. In that time, pro-Trump right-wing accounts have been the most salient community amplifying BJ's hard-brexit tweets. There is little doubt that in my mind that it is an influence operation. It is also
11/ unlikely to be just on Twitter. There is no sign that such accounts are being investigated or watched. Do we just accept that there can be no sovereignty of the information sphere when it comes to electoral integrity? - End #Thread
