When then expedient to its political objectives, the Telegraph ran an anti-semitic front page. Anti-semitism in Labour is real and abhorrent. And the Telegraph is a sewer.
The Telegraph doesn't care for jews. It cares only for its selfish, scorched earth, low tax, low regulation, screw-the-poor ideology. Your enemy's enemy is not your friend.

The rule about keeping secret how postal ballots are breaking is in regulation 84 of The Representation of the People (England and Wales) Regulations 2001 (as amended - the legislation.gov.uk version is not up to date).
I am not an election lawyer, but if information about how postal ballots are breaking is getting out, that does seem to me to be cause for concern, not least because logically it suggests breaches of the obligation owed by returning officers.
And if @bbclaurak is telling the truth when she says that "postal votes are looking pretty grim for Labour in a lot of parts of the country" that means that breaches of the obligation owed by returning officers is pretty widespread.

This👆is why I love @hugorifkind's writing. We all know we are sick. But we are all, even those in a position to help, looking for who makes things better. Some journalists (especially at the BBC) must do more. Perhaps lawyers, like me, should ask whether judges can do more.
@hugorifkind But, ultimately, tackling the rampant dishonesty in politics is a job that can only be done by the political parties. Labour's Manifesto doesn't really engage with the scale of the problems. But the Tory Manifesto promises virtually nothing.

First of all, there are two things to separate:
- the individual human behaviour of the individuals (and, more important, the leadership) in the respective parties
- the policies that party would pursue were it in power
Second, UK elections are a choice of both a local candidate and then a national government depending on the majority, and this is complicated by the UK election system

This is utterly out of order. When does the left ever say we've been "too apologetic" about fighting racism or bigotry? Why is he, a non-Jew, right and Jon Lansman - a Jewish socialist who founded Momentum and ran Corbyn's second leadership campaign - wrong about anti-Semitism?
It is possible to assert that the Labour leadership is not anti-Semitic - it isn't - and that the vast majority of Labour members abhor anti-Semitism - they do, whilst recognising that there *is* an anti-Semitic minority on the left (which I've seen myself - and I'm not Jewish!)
"Anti-Semitism is being used by the right to smear the left". No shit! The right cynically use anything they can to beat us. If I start punching people in the street, the right would say: "See! The left are violent!" That doesn't mean me punching people isn't a problem!

Starting at the very top with @JeremyCorbyn.

He infamously referred to #Hamas and #Hezbollah as "friends". Both organisations call for the extermination of #Israel, and regularly carry out attacks against #Jews. They're also both officially classified as #terrorist groups.
Perhaps the most well-known incident is #Corbyn's attendance at a wreath-laying ceremony in Tunisia in 2014, which honoured the terrorists who murdered 11 #Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics. Mr Corbyn claimed to be "present but not involved".

Okay, since we're debating anti-semitism again, let's have a quick run-through of what #Labour might have done, and what they have done.
Have they announced a specific speech by the Leader, or Deputy Leader, admitting mistakes in the past, and laying out a *specific* policy agenda to tackle the problem? No.
Have they admitted that, while of course one finds AS in lots of places, there is a *particular variant* of the curse on the Left, which is insidiously worming its way into the party's DNA? No.

Today, @angelasmithmp signed on to Twitter, anointed herself Chief Rabbi, and is using her new rabbinical authority to decree who is and is not a real Jew, or at least who the acceptable Jews are. And oh - she'd doing this, quite ironically, in the name of combating anti-semitism
Only in the UK, and only when it comes to the eagerness of Blairites to sleazily exploit anything, no matter how sensitive (e.g. cynically invoking anti-semitism as a political weapon), can *having dinner with a group of Jews* be deemed further proof of one's anti-semitism.
If @angelasmithmp wants to be a credible rabbinical authority, she should probably learn the word "seder" when denouncing Jews and their allies who attend one. Also, if she has a list of the acceptable British Jews and the banished ones, she should share that list. So offensive.
