Imagine this entirely plausible (and horrifying) scenario:

-In 2020, FL, IA, or NC cast the deciding electors to defeat Trump.

-In 2021, the GOP passes laws requiring those states award electors by congressional district — then gerrymanders the shit out of those districts.
Similar scenario:

Arizona casts the deciding electors to defeat Trump. The GOP repeals the state's voter-approved independent redistricting commission (or Judge Beer Bong overturns SCOTUS' decision holding it constitutional), and then same scenario plays out there.
One of the biggest problems with the Electoral College is how easy it would be, if our politics grows even more partisan, for individual states to start rigging their own electors to decide the whole election.

That risk should keep us up at night.

Janus was a nonsensical ruling on its face. The right-wing justices decided that non-political agency fees must be treated as political speech, but they didn't grant collective bargaining any of the rights associated with speech.
For instance, if every kind of union activity is speech — and therefore unconstitutional to compel agency fees to subsidize — that would imply anything that *restricts* collective bargaining is also unconstitutional as a restriction of speech.
That would imply a whole host of laws regulating how unions conduct their business are unconstitutional — bans on solidarity strikes, bans on lobbying municipal governments, restrictions on public employees conducting union business on the clock.

The justices are silent on this.

I don't think I'll ever get over my anger at Jeremy Corbyn.

He was, in every conceivable way, unfit to lead the British left, at what might have been the most important moment in history for the British left to step up and fight for the people.

What a disaster.
Boris Johnson is a far-right, racist thug who had NO BUSINESS WHATSOEVER winning a Tory majority at all, let alone the biggest one in a hundred years.

He's a walking shaved ape whose Brexit plan is hated by everyone.

ANY COMPETENT OPPOSITION COULD HAVE BEATEN HIM.
Oh well. This was the UK's last chance. Brexit will definitely happen now. And it will tank the world economy. And the NHS will be dismantled by overseas venture capitalists.

But Corbyn somehow managed to make himself look the worse option.

Michael Adams's slogan was "It should be easy to vote and hard to cheat."

His incoming policy is the exact opposite of both.
Your daily reminder that highly restrictive voter ID laws don't even work at preventing fraud. Most fraud occurs with absentee ballots, which obviously an ID won't fix.

Much less restrictive in-person checks, like address-bearing documents, are sufficient to stop impersonation.
(Also even these checks should give the option of an affidavit vote, to prevent disenfranchising homeless people and others who may fall through the cracks.)

Adelson used his access to move the embassy in Israel to Jerusalem and cut aid to Palestinians.
