This is what the #BBIReport metropolitan proposal means for black Kenyans (because it's for wazungu)

1. Nairobi will be exempt from democratic oversight in both parliament and the Senate. Uthamakistan can do what it wants, and there will have no legal way to sanction him
2. Nairobi can make decisions over other counties using its economic strength and superiority to other counties. And since Nairobi wont be subject to Senate or Parliamentary oversight, governors will be powerless over Nairobi. So #BBIReport is lying about strengthening devolution
3. Uthamakistan will gentrify Nairobi so that it limits the ability of non-Kikuyus people to settle in Nairobi. They'll be told to go vote in their "home counties." That means that control of Kenya through Nairobi will remain Kikuyu-centric. So #BBIReport is lying about inclusion
4. Disproportionately more resources will still go to Nairobi because Uthamakistan, which will now operate as the colonial governor, will keep saying that Nairobi is special because it has more wazungus and needs to boost international trade...
4 (cont) that means we will continue with the pre-2010 status where governors cannot negotiate for the resources generated in their own counties. They will still go to Nairobi, but the 46 counties will not have power to hold Nairobi to account, since Nairobi will have no governor
5. This situation will essentially turn Nairobi into a larger version of Northlands estate, ruled by the Kenyattas and controlling everything from Nairobi. All the stories about inclusivity and inequality in #BBIReport are outright lies.
So when we say that #BBIReport is the charter for the kingdom of Uthamakistan controlled by the Kenyattas, we're not exaggerating. And the report is already being implemented. #BBIReport is a pack of lies. Ironcially, clergy participated in writing it. theelephant.info/features/2019/…

Jubilee is bullshitting here. This isn't about Sonko. It's about Muigai capturing Nairobi according to the #BBIReport. BBI wants Nairobi exempted from the democratic vote, so that it becomes the private property of the Kenyattas which they'll use to control the counties.
What that means is that premiership wont do jack for anybody. The Kenyattas will still be running Kenya from Nairobi as their Buckingham Palace, and county governors will be going to Nairobi to bow before their majesties the King and his Queen Mother.
It is clear that what Jubilee people mean by "discussion" of the report is that we give them time to implement the report, so that by the time we are saying "no," whatever the report suggests will already be implemented.

#BBIReport is a coup d'etat. Just like elections.

For almost three years now, I've been struggling to answer this question: what is the relationship between race and ethnicity in Kenya?

THREAD.
Reason: I've found two things puzzling:

1. Uthamakistan often sounds like white supremacy

2. Public issues, especially tourism, education, police brutality and marginalization, are talked about with the same racist narratives as in the West.
One direct answer to my question is in Amy Chua's "World on fire," in which she argues that capitalism uses markets to appoint and favor a "market dominant minority" ethnic group, and then demands "democratic" elections to manage the inevitable resentment of the rest.

You cannot get freedom from a deal that was negotiated by people's whose kids don't attend public schools, or who dont get treated in public hospitals.

We will remind Kenyans of this after the euphoria of this latest spectacle from politicians dies down.
Before 2022, there'll be another #BBIReport. Politicians need to stay in the limelight, but not on issues, because issues would make them irrelevant. They hold our attention by implied threats of tribal war, so that we celebrate every time they shake hands. BBI is spectacle.
So #BBIReport will dominate headlines for a few weeks, maybe months, as politicians loot the country and distract us from the sinking debt and the broke government. And we won't realize, because we've been trained by our education system to forget. Our public memory is very short

#democratic primary: It's 12/1 and just over 2 months to the IA caucuses. So what the heck is going on in this primary that's being conducted in the middle of a constitutional crisis? Well, the bottom line is that young voters are steadier in their preferences than older voters.
Taking @surveyusa polling from Aug-Nov, we see that the 18-34 vote has barely moved for Warren (-1), Pete (+1), Biden (+2) and Harris (-1). For Bernie, there was a big drop of -10 from Aug to Sept, but has since stabilized at 35, highest of any candidate in that demo.
Among 35-49 voters, since Aug, Liz is +2, Pete (0), Bernie (-1), Joe (-5) and Harris (-4). Among 50-64 voters: Warren (+2), Pete (0), Bernie (-1), Biden (-4), Harris (-5). Among 65+: Warren (-13), Pete (+7), Bernie (+2), Joe (-4), Harris (-5).
